A posh and tasty twist on the usual Cheese and Ham Toastie
While we absolutely love a good cheese and ham toastie it doesn’t stop us trying out some variations on this classic and this recipe is one of those tasty variations. I first made it one lunchtime when working from home for the day and it was just the ticket.
A winning combination of international ingredients
This toasted sandwich is a true international success story as it brings together an winning combination of Dutch cheese, Italian ham and French mustard with British bread.
The Gouda cheese brings a soft and nutty flavor and has a great gooey melt.
The Prosciutto ham gives the sandwich a cured salty kick which is then slightly mellowed out by the honey French mustard.
What to keep in mind with this recipe
We always like to use fat on the outside of our toasted sandwich’s to ensure a good crisp shell. Our number one choice for this sandwich is butter but please use unsalted butter.
The reason for unsalted, which Infound out, is that salted butter with the prosciutto is just too much salt for this sandwich.
