Watch me make this Toastie
Ingredients
You need the following ingredients for this baked bean and sausage toastie.
- 2 Slices of toasted bread
- 3 slices of Gouda cheese
- 2 tsp of sweet onion chutney
- 2 pork sausages
- 3 tsp of baked beans
- Jalapeno pepper (Optional)
The jalapeno peppers are optional but I really recommend adding them and they bring a lovely touch of spice and heat to this toastie recipe.
The key ingredient to this sausage and bean toastie
The surprise key ingredient to this sausage and bean sandwich is the caramelised onion chutney. It adds a really nice touch of sweetness to contrast the pork and beans.
You don;t need to buy a fancy and expensive brand, just a simple supermarket own will be fine and you can use it in a ton of tasty toasties.
Directions
Follow these steps to make this toastie recipe.
Step 1
Grill or oven cook the sausages and heat up the baked beans. When the sausages are only a few minutes away from being ready then toast your bread.
Step 2
Once the sausages are cooked then slice them long ways through the middle.
Step 3
Lay out the toasted bread and add a slice of the Gouda cheese.
Step 4
Spread the onion chutney over the slice of cheese and then add the sausages. I like to to alternate the way they lay but you can do it however you like.
Step 5
Add another slice of cheese and then ladle on the hot beans. The hot beans and sausages will begin to melt the cheese
Step 6
Top the baked beans with another slice of Gouda. Next, add the add the optional jalapeno peppers followed by the top slice of toast and press down gently to ensure you toastie binds together well..
