After searching through the internet for some time I was only able to find single toastie makers at Amazon. To my surprise there are not, currently, stocked at Argos, John Lewis or any of the other major sellers you would expect including Breville.
Which is better a single toastie or regular double toastie maker?
This is a tricky question as,for the reasons given at the start of this article I do believe there are several benefits of buying a single toastie maker.
However, the options are quite limited on what you can get and often don’t have removal plates which is a really useful feature for a toasted sandwich maker.
Plus, even if you are on your own you may find you have guests or just fancy two sandwiches.
Overall, if you are really stuck for space then grab a single toastie maker. Otherwise, go for a regular two sandwich model.

This single toastie maker comes from the clever Morphy Richards microwave collection. This is an innovative collection of cooking gadgets you would never think you would be able to use in the microwave but with these you can.
Simple place your sandwich between the two plates and then zap it in the microwave.
Plus, as there isn’t a heating element required and plug it stores really easily.
Judge Non-Stick Single Toasted Sandwich Maker
This is a good single toastie maker as a good price. It doesn’t have detachable plates like the more expensive MyKC version but like the MyKC can be stored on its side which is a very useful feature.
It is also eligible for prime delivery so you can be enjoying a toasted sandwich in under 48 hours.
Jean-Patrique Stovetop Single Toastie Maker
A bit more suited to making toasties while camping, but still worth a look as a home single toastie maker. However, it will only work on a gas hob.
To be honest, if your not taking this camping then you may as well just make a traditional grilled cheese rather than invest in this single toastie maker.

Overall, if you are after a single toastie maker then I recommend the Judge Non-Stick Single toastie maker.
